English Training
In September 1997, the Abraham Lincoln Foundation opened the Abraham Lincoln Professional Studies Center in Tirana, Albania. The Center offers high-quality English language courses for all levels. We also offer special English programs for several professional institutions in Albania. Our main aims are to develop the professional skills of Albanians as well as to inspire and nurture moral values. Our overall desire is to be the best education institution of our kind.
At present, we provide instruction for more than 1500 students. Lincoln students range from children age eight to adults of all ages. Our students hail from all walks of life - from villagers to members of Parliament. American and British specialists conduct ongoing training for teachers in order to maintain the highest quality instruction with the best and most modern pedagogical methods.
The Center has a faculty of approximately 30 teachers, all of whom have an English teaching degree from the University of Tirana. We are also privileged to have a few American teachers with English degrees among our teaching staff. In addition, native English speakers often assist classes to help students practice and experience the spoken language with a native speaker.
Our English program for adults utilizes the Cambridge University Press New Interchange materials, a four-level series based on American and international English. After completing New Interchange, students may take the Passages course which develops more advanced professional skills in English.
We use two series from Cambridge University Press in our English program for children: Primary Colours for the younger ones, while older kids use the Messages program. Both approaches help children learn about interesting topics through enjoyable interactive activities.
